Yangshuo Park - 阳朔公园 - gongyuan

Yangshuo Park used to cost visitors, foreign and domestic, 9 Yuan entrance. It was never worth that. Fortunately, Yangshuo Park has undergone a major transformation with improvements to facilities and with the entrance fee totally gone. It is now, very much, worth a visit.

Many locals head here to meet with friends and chat in the relative cool of the shade. Others come to take part in gentle local recreations such as bowls, tai'chi and cards. Many students gather here, and often like to practice their English with willing visitors. Feel free to get involved. It could make your day, as well as theirs.

There is a children's play area (well actually two areas close together) with rides, magnetic fishing and a bouncy play pen. These are probably only suitable for 3-8 year olds - but a great way for your family to make local friends.

You can climb up to the little Pagoda that looks out over Yangshuo Market by finding the set of steps up the back of the mountain. These do get steep at the top so take care, especially when it is wet. You will regret not taking water and a camera.

Yangshuo Park is safe enough in the early evening but usual precautions should be taken. Don't go alone after dark, especially females.
